Intermediate Running Stays

The photo below shows much of the details of the Intermediate Running Stays that I installed on my P-15.
The upper section is attached to eyestraps mounted on the mast just below the side shrouds.
The lower end of the upper sections ends with a nylon thimble. The lower section can begin either at the forward end of the grab rail as shown, or further back on the hand rail to add more fore and aft support.
Both sections are made from small diameter Marlowe pre-stretched line.
The system is designed to be weaker than the shrouds, but it can add headstay support when easing the main sheet would otherwise add fullness the jib which is just what we do not want to happen.
