Potter Tiedown Strap Adjustment

By

Ron Parr

Owner of P-15 #2206

All photo's are taken from the starboard side of my boat. The orientation of the strap assembly from this side is not arbitrary, just a personal preference. It could have just as easily been done from the port side.

This photo is taken with the tiedown strap in the "relaxed" position. The portion of the belt on the bottom in this photo is the end attached to the trailer; the other is loose.

The strap assembly has been rotated clockwise (as standing on starboard side of boat) revealing the underside of the assembly. The end of the belt in hand is the end that is attached to the trailer. The other portion of the belt is, of course, loose.

This photo shows the tiedown assembly just before the handle is pulled back toward viewer to put tension on the straps.

The handle is being pulled back in this photo, applying increasing tension the further back it is pulled.

This photo shows the strap hardware assembly in the restrained position, with the move begun in photo 4 of 5 completed. The strap assembly is now tensioned holding the boat on the trailer.
